American artist, musician, and inventor — son of tool maker Ron Brown of
Ron Brown's Best — turning Alumilite bowls with Australian burl caps,
painting abstract expressionism in acrylic, producing electronic music
under the name Cri-One, and designing patent-pending technology across
nineteen platforms.
The multidisciplinary source.
Christopher Gabriel Brown is an American artist, musician, and inventor
whose creative expression spans several disciplines that most people
treat as separate. As Cri-One, he produces electronic
music whose composition logic is the same logic he uses to shape a chip
architecture: subtraction first, layered structure second, the unexpected
interval where it counts.
The visual work runs along the same line. Hand-turned Alumilite bowls
finished with Australian burl caps, original abstract expressionism in
acrylic on canvas, and the disciplined precision that comes from being
raised in the workshop of Ron Brown of Ron Brown's Best —
a tool maker whose craftsmanship has shaped a generation of woodturners.
Sawdust on the hands is not a metaphor here. It is the working condition.
Born into a family of makers, the throughline from the lathe to the
schematic editor is short. The same eye that decides where to cut a
curve decides where to land a power rail. The same ear that knows when a
track is finished knows when a specification is finished. The work is
one body, in many forms.
Creativity and innovation are not separate pursuits — they are
different expressions of the same instinct given different tools.
What you find on this site — the patent-pending platforms, the AutoPhi
Collections with ~300 RTL designs and the GDSII generator that turns
each design into a fab-ready layout, the foundry handoff packages, the
Alchemy data products — all of it comes from that same source. Engineering
documentation, sale terms, and the writing in the essays below are each
working drafts of one idea.
