How it's made

The Center is the productisation of a comprehensive nuclear-waste-recycling facility design at industrial scale. Microwave processing replaces the conventional vitrification + repository approach with an active processing flow: waste enters the chambers, the microwave field drives the targeted reactions, energy is recovered through the automated recycling system, gas exhaust is captured and treated, water coolant is recycled through the treatment loop, and the chemical-balance system maintains process stoichiometry. The control architecture is automated; the safety architecture is multi-layered with emergency response, radiation protection, environmental controls, and rigorous QA at every stage.

The engineering documentation is exhaustive: 95 files in blueprints/ covering system overview, detailed engineering, operational procedures, safety analysis, installation commissioning, EPC execution, cost analysis, risk assessment, environmental impact, and quality assurance. An EPC firm has what it needs to begin Phase 1.

Why I made it

The conventional U.S. approach to high-level nuclear waste โ€” the Yucca Mountain repository program โ€” spent four decades and tens of billions of dollars before being effectively abandoned in 2010. The waste itself is still produced, still accumulating in spent-fuel pools and dry cask storage at every reactor site, still without a destination. The "deep geological repository" answer assumes the waste is a thing to be entombed rather than a thing to be processed.

I built this facility as the alternative. Microwave-enhanced processing โ€” tightly coupled with energy recovery, gas treatment, water recycling, and a multi-layer safety architecture โ€” offers a path where the waste is reduced and partially monetised through energy output rather than just stored. The full-scale design is paired with a smaller research-tier sibling (Project 17 Small Microwave Nuclear Recycler, $1.5M) so that pilot work can run on the same architecture before committing to the $300M industrial build.

What it can do

The acquired engineering package delivers facility-design content sufficient for an EPC firm to begin Phase 1 construction at a regulated nuclear-waste-handling site. The 95-file blueprints/ tree covers system, engineering, operations, safety, installation, commissioning, EPC execution, cost, risk, environmental, and QA. The acquisition is the design package โ€” not a built facility, not a regulatory licence, not an operating permit. Construction, commissioning, regulatory approval, and operations are the buyer's downstream responsibility under their jurisdiction's nuclear-handling regulator.

Why it's a fact

License Terms โ€” What's Granted, What Isn't

The acquisition grants the buyer permission to make, build, and copy the deliverable. It does not transfer the underlying intellectual property:

  • Granted with the acquisition: permission to construct (or have constructed) the facility at any regulated site under the buyer's jurisdiction; permission to operate the facility under appropriate regulatory licensing; permission to make copies of the engineering package for the buyer's EPC, operations, regulatory, and integration use.
  • Not transferred with the acquisition: the USPTO patent application(s) on file, USPTO 19/540,453 (Integrated Technology Portfolio umbrella), the broader inventor portfolio book references, trademarks, copyrights, or any rights to license or assign the IP onward to third parties. The intellectual property remains held by Christopher Gabriel Brown.
  • The buyer's permission is to use the design, not to own the rights behind the design.
