Negative Microwave

The cold side of every high-energy-density application is, by the 2020s, the bottleneck that determines the application’s economics. Data centres are limited by cooling, not by power supply. Concentrator photovoltaics are limited by cell cooling, not by mirror efficiency. Quantum-compute installations are limited by dilution-refrigeration throughput, not by qubit fidelity. Modern directed-energy systems are limited by thermal management of the gain medium, not by raw beam power. The list is long and growing.

Negative Microwave operationalises a single observation from the inventor’s 2017 publication: the consumer microwave oven, run in reverse, is a refrigerator. The same cavity engineering, the same magnetron supply chain, the same dielectric materials. Energy flow reversed, parametric process driven in the cold-side direction, working medium engineered for the application. The result is a complete product family spanning seven orders of magnitude of cold-side authority — from one watt at the chip-embedded scale to fifty megawatts at the utility-plant scale — across temperature windows from sub-Kelvin to four hundred Kelvin, using components substantially drawn from supply chains that already exist at consumer-price-point cost-of-goods.

The Configuration Catalog

Forty-two named configurations across seven application domains:

DomainConfigurationsAuthority window
Quantum & cryogenic6 (NM-Q-04mK through NM-Q-80K)10 mW @ 40 mK → 100 W @ 80 K
Data centre & compute5 (chip-direct, rack, immersion, aisle, data-hall)300 W → 1 MW
Building HVAC5 (small → utility)30 kW → 50 MW
Industrial process5 (chemical, metallurgical, food, pharma, semicon)50 kW → 2 MW
Aerospace & defence5 (DEW, satellite, deep-space, aircraft, vehicle)10 W → 50 kW
Medical & biological5 (MRI, vaccine, cryo, PCR, implantable)50 mW → 500 W
Speciality & research6 (lab, concentrator-PV, fusion, photo-PV building, archive, custom)5 kW → 90 kW combined
