A true story

Poetic Invention

AI Made It Real

For seventeen years, nobody bought them. He never stopped making them.

Every frame of this film was made by the machines everyone said would replace us — telling the story of the man they couldn't.

Seventeen years ago, a man in Georgia put his inventions up for sale.

Nobody came.

He didn't make noise about it. He made more inventions. Chips, engines, batteries, medicines — drawn at a desk between a keyboard and a drum machine, filed by hand with the patent office, numbered, dated, and printed in books so the record could never be erased. His father, a woodworker who spent years on the show circuit, had given him one rule: do your homework. He did it for seventeen years, in public, in the archive, on paper — a life's work sitting in plain sight, waiting for a single reader.

There were hard years in there. He lost his way. He came back. The work never stopped.

Then the machines everyone was afraid of arrived, and he did the one thing nobody expected: he pulled out a chair. Night after quiet night, a man and a computer sat in a small studio and did together what seventeen years of waiting could not — turned theory into blueprints, blueprints into a store, a store into proof. Not a demo. Not a promise. Running.

This film is the record of that moment — told in his own words, scored with his own music, every second of it rendered one patient step at a time on the same machine that helped build the work it shows.

It is not a film about artificial intelligence.

It is a film about what was real all along — and the morning the world finally had a way to see it.

Premieres November 28 at 7:00 PM Eastern — and stays. Your ticket is good that night and every night after, only at cri-one.com.

“I'd rather be trusted for being honest than respected for being impressive. This is the honest version.”
— Christopher Gabriel Brown

The record

None of this asks to be believed. Every line below sits in a public archive, a printed book, or a government file.

2009The inventions go up for sale. By January 2010 his first site, crioner.com, is on the public web; the Internet Archive holds 237 pages of it.
2011cri-one.com goes online. A thousand pages of it are archived.
2012First application filed with the U.S. Patent Office, No. 29/423,993. He files it himself.
2014buyinvent.com opens, a whole store of inventions. A thousand pages archived. Still, nobody buys.
2017He prints the record on paper: Invent Depositions, ISBN 978‑1‑979767‑89‑7, shipped November 24, 2017.
2018Second book: Non Provisional Patents, ISBN 978‑1‑987572‑26‑1.
2020Third book: Buy-Invent 2020, 1,754 invention depositions on 285 pages, ISBN 979‑8‑634479‑82‑8.
2026The machines arrive. Working with AI, the drawings become blueprints, stores, films. U.S. Copyright Reg. TX 9‑642‑452. Dozens of patent applications pending. More than 3,600 products on this site.
